Pay It Forward: Give-Away Yarns 2011

As always I'll randomly draw five names from the comment pool. My only request is that since you receive the yarn free, you donate to an animal cause of your choice. It can be in time, in goods and of course, much needed cold hard cash. Non-profits have been stretched to the brink in these past couple of years, and more animals than ever are being abandoned or turned into shelters. The recipients of your generous donations are your choice, but I just couldn't let this opportunity go by without steering you all over for a look see at a start up non-profit that is working to keep pets in their homes. It's in Massachusetts and I learned about it during the "Making a Difference" segment by Brian Williams on his nightly broadcasts. Fairy Dogparents should be commended for recognizing how important animals are in enriching our lives and working to keep much loved pets with their owners to every one's benefit. I would love to see Fairy Dogparents in every community.
So, without further ado, let's get to the yarns!

Batch #1 Walking on Sunshine. 6 skeins of Cascade Quatro, 2 skeins of Panda silk

Batch #2 In the Pink: 8 balls of Adrienne Vittadini Natasha, 3 balls of Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift, 2 balls Tahki Lucky, 1 skein Classic Elite Miracle.

Batch #3. Orphans: 2 ball Louisa Harding Kimono Pure Angora, 1 ball Louisa Harding Kashmir Baby, 1 skein Araucania Nature Wool dark brown, 2 skeins Jamieson's Shetland DK, dark blue and light green, 2 skeins Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift light blue and 1 ball of Frog Tree Suri Alpaca

Batch #4. Get Your Silks On: 11 skeins of a handcrafted silk and wool blend. 3 of those skeins are the turquoise blue, the balance a deep coral. It's a worsted weight.

Batch #5. Weavers Bundle: Assorted single and double plied wools, some Harrisville, some by a Canadian company. These all run lace weight to light fingering. Partial cones on most. Great for adding a little colorful pizazz to a warp. The gold Mora yarn may be a Swedish yarn. I'd have to check the label again. Untouched and lots of yardage on those 3 skeins

If you have a preference feel free to mention it. It all depends on if I draw for each batch or draw 5 and then assign batches. I will do my drawing over the weekend, so look for the winners on the blog early next week. I will pick up postage on all batches in the US, so please, be generous with your donations. Canada folks, we'll talk and overseas visitors, I simply can't afford to ship it but maybe I've inspired you to clean out your stashes and do a Pay It Forward! :)

Such a generous soul you are. I like the first batch... bright yellow like sunshine which I hope through public awareness and generosity will bring a little sunshine into an animal's life that needs our help.

What a generous giveaway. I have to look into my stash and see if I can give something away.

If you ask me for a preference, I would vote for batch 1 or batch with silks.

Such a great and generous idea. Love the FairyDogparents - every community should have one. Don't add my name to the draw - no need of yarn here and I have finally reduced my own stash somewhat. Orange is a difficult colour to use... lol

Thanks for the lovely PIF giveaway, Theresa! I'd take any of them but #1; don't think I could handle that much yellow. On the other hand, I could knit something for a friend who LOVES yellow....

Your orphans in batch number 3 would definitely find use in my stash! And I WILL pay it forward with a de-stashing AND contribute to my sister's favorite charity, Pittsburgh ASPCA if I win any of the batches. Thanks for the generosity, inspiration and opportunity.

Batch 5 would be my first choice, followed by batch 2. Whether I win or not, we'll be donating to our local shelter. Thanks for the reminder.

I have a stash of my own, so don't put me in the draw! But, I'm glad you reminded us to contribute to our furry friends!

Love the yellow but let someone else have it - I've got a pile of yellow yarn I haven't done anything with yet. Also have so much of my own stash that there's no need to add me to the drawing. But I will donate $$ to my county shelter - they just rescued many horses and llamas from CJ and need supplies to care for them in their foster home.

I think the first two and the fourth batch are my favorite. Thank you for reminding us to give back to our furry friends in need. Not all animals have the wonderful and loving home that yours do! :)

You are indeed a kind and generous woman. I would be THRILLED with any yarn I receive. I'm a supporter of my local SPCA, so would make an additional donation in honor of such a great gift.

Gosh, Theresa, this is exactly the motivation I need. I've been thinking I really need to go through my stash, because I have so much and storage is a bit of a problem while we're in the middle of house renovations. So please enter me! My druthers would be for either batch #1 or 2, but I'll be happy with however you work it out. I have my recipient picked out too, Indian Creek Llama Sanctuary.

Theresa, I am a very lucky dog mom of 3 Old English Sheepdogs - each and every one of them a rescue dog. We support rescue and our local shelters, we always have and we certainly will continue to do so in the future. Thank you for your kind and generous heart, all animal kind benefits from your generosity. I will donate in Stella's name even if I don't win a drawing for the yarn. I love choice number 2 - in the pink and choice number 4- get your silks on. I have followed your blog for a long time and always check it so I can get my Stella fix! Please give a pet and hug to all your furry kids for me. Best wishes, Martha

Oh my, I am so happy to hear from all you animal lovers. Good for all of you, donations, adoptions, rescue dogs yippee! Martha, I have a special fondness for OES, my very first mentor as far as handling, showing dogs and sportsmanship in the ring was from Annie Raker through 4H many, many years ago. Held in a grand site in Lincoln MA. She had some fine dogs too, but mostly I remember her absolute love for the breed that was downright infectious.

Theresa, You are so kind!!! We're animal lovers too. Our adult children buy extra cat and dog food everytime they go to the grocery store and once every month or siz weeks go to the local SPCA and give it to them. We help that way and also our Weis stores do a neet thing where you can buy some at their stores and they make sure the food you bought gets the right place.
I love bundle #1.

I'm exercising a rare moment of restraint and not putting myself in the draw this year.

Thanks for the offer though! This is so nice of you!
