There's Just No Good Excuse for This!

I don't know what struck me yesterday while cleaning, both house and barn, but there I was doing the endless dusting. Between Southern Oregon's low/no humidity and the canine dirt magnets this has got to be the dustiest place I've ever lived. The Woolhouse
Carolyn loom has been woefully neglected as far as weaving and everything needed a good dusting and vacuuming off. I wear out brush tools.
Anyway, I must have disturbed some fairy dust or something because THIS seemed like a good idea at the time.

Maybe my Grandmother was channeling through me yesterday. She was the absolute best sewer I've ever met and could whip up a girlie confection in a moments notice. I, being the absolute best tomboy, could ruin it in half that time.

This was all scrap fabric that I had left over from something ages ago. Gene wanted to know when the ball was. It's a pretty silly concoction if I do say so myself and would have been a lot easier if I had had a ruffler foot for my sewing machine. The old one had one of those contraptions and they work pretty well. In any event, it will keep the dust off of Carolyn.

I was actually thinking covers for all the looms might be worthwhile, but I'm sure not going to make something like this for the downstairs looms, I promise. Maybe some fabric placed over like a tent with ties on the side? Something a little less...uh...foufou.

I'm torn between two knitting patterns for that new Cascade wool. Any opinions would be welcome. I like them both pretty equally and can see myself in either. Both need to be made a little longer.

Sharon from In Stitches named me for a lovely Bella Sinclair award. Thank you so much and you were quite deserving of it yourself I might add.
It reads:" This award was designed by Ces for her friend Bella. Ces wrote: I designed this award to celebrate art in the blogs and to honour the value of friendship, sisterhood, sharing and caring. It is to be awarded to the gifted, accomplished, eloquent and talented blogger, whose friendship and influence inspire us to do our best. That I named it after Bella Sinclair is because she epitomizes all of these things."
My Bella Sinclairs are:

Susan at Thrums
Dawn at Hey Dawn....
Lynette & Ngaire at Dust Bunnies Under My Loom
Cindie at Eweniquely Ewe

I'm sorry there is no picture of the award...for some reason the copied photo won't work placed here. But it can be seen here at Sharon's blog!

I never thought of cover my looms in such a creative way. Mine are lucky if they get an old sheet when not in use.

I like the pattern on the left maybe because like you I'm more a tom boy than a girlie girl.

Ah! I am honored! Thank you!

I lean more towards the right knitting project. It has a different slant to it with the collar. But both are great - you really can't lose! I do like the idea of longer. Being tall I tend to prefer long clothes.

Again thanks!

A loom cover - great idea! And an over-the-top ruffled confection that reminds me of something from a circus - even better!! Color me impressed!!

Thank you so much for the award!! I'm touched.

For the knitting pattern, I'd lean toward the one on the left if it was for me. Mostly because I finish knitted items so slowly that I'd be afraid the asymmetric trend would pass me by before I was even done knitting. But I like both patterns so you really can't go wrong!

Lots of dogs = lots of dust (but also lots of love!)

Wow - thanks Theresa. I receive so much from this virtual community and appreciated that award as well as your compliment.

I hadn't thought of an actual cover - just use an old table cloth. My MIL would turn over in her grave were she to know what her damask is doing these days. A cover makes more send, less dusting - dust is a nightmare here.

Thanks for the award Theresa!
Your loom cover is great. It reminds me of Mimi from the Drew Carrey Show (dressed a bit over the top!) Very pratical though.
