Todays the Day! VOTE

Grab some friends, or neighbors or folks you just know might need a ride, and go VOTE.
At the very least it gives you bona fide bitching rights for the next 2 years. My ballot hit the mail the day after it arrived in my little hot hand. Oregon is one of the three vote by mail only states. Washington and Colorado are the other two. (I do miss going to polling places as I did when I lived elsewhere), but voting by mail is a cinch. Imagine the problems that would be avoided if the nation was all vote by mail? Georgia and North Dakota, I'm looking at you, but there are others....sadly.

I know it won't be easy for some to vote but really, our nation should be able to count on you for at least a couple of hours once every two years. Your one vote is as important as the next, regardless of income bracket, color, religion and sexual orientation. Plus, I just want to see the country stick it to the mango Mussolini. We are better than this asshat, so lets prove it and get some folks into congress that will do their jobs and be the checks and balances we have so sorely needed these last 20 months.

I'm leaving you with a spot of Alice Cooper today. The first rock concert I ever attended was a Cooper concert, in 1972 with Blue Oyster Cult. It was loud, very very loud.

Parting shot. Waiting for election results!

Starting you off!

Voting by mail makes me extremely nervous. How can we be assured that the person it was sent to was the person who marked the ballot? Plus, the way the postal service is - it would probably be my ballot that gets lost...

I trotted my self-righteous little butt to the poll place on my way to work. I like to flaunt my 'blue-ness' in the solidly red Trumpland in which I live. I was heartened to see a few other humanists in line, bless them.

Julie, I would think if you didn't get your ballot you would say something. Oregon keeps records of returned ballots so you can check if someone voted in your stead. Ditto checking to see if it was received. And if you worry about the USPS, you have the option of dropping it directly off at a designated drop off area on 11/6 and maybe a few days before. I find paperless electronic systems far more scary. I often take a copy of my ballot should it come under scrutiny and you can check that too, especially if you send in your ballot early. No system is perfect, but voter fraud is really, really rare, where electronic glitches all too common....

Susan, We live in an interesting area. Ashland is predictably blue, Medford red, but becoming more purple as time passes. Much of Oregon is red but Portland/Eugene and Bend who have the highest population concentrations ( and are college towns) usually go blue. I'm always surprised by the difference between right over the border in NY and southern Vermont. Pat on the back to you and pets to the Pat et al.

Yes, hope everyone gets out and votes no matter who they vote for....although I'd like to see them vote my way. I don't want to hear any non-voters whining like after the last election - if they choose not to vote they can't complain about the outcome. And yes, Portland/Salem area saves us here in OR often.

Funny, my first concert was also Alice Cooper but I think it was in 70 or 71 - what does that say about us???

Theresa, I don't like the online high tech options either. I'm all for paper ballots, pre registration, and photo id at the polling place. Absentee ballots should be highly monitored, also. Probably won't be a a popular person within this group :) I've worked at polls, and even tho I live in a small town where you are greeted by name, you still have to pull out your photo id and follow all procedures to vote.

Voted- felt great in this little tiny rural area to learn that we are having a huge turn out of voters. I was voter number 114 for our tiny little township.

Jack's picture tugged at my heart, he is getting very grey in the face! Please give him a gentle pet and hug from me.

How is Miss Mandy feeling?

Our pastor grew up in apartheid South Africa and recognizes the hate; he voted blue. A dear old couple who spoke for my homeschool class on Living History WW2 (as Dutch living in Indonesia they were both held in Japanese prison camps in their youth) also recognize the hate; they voted blue. But I guess if you only listen to certain "channels" this administration is portrayed as all sweetness and light. That's why I don't quote news outlets; I say, "This is what I heard Trump say with my own ears; this is what Trump tweeted, I read it with my own eyes. Wake up!"

Well said. I early voted at the polls. There were long lines here in Houston but they moved fast and I was glad to get it done.

I usually vote by mail but this time I wanted to do it in person. I was there by 8AM and now I am just praying. There's too much funny business going on...like in Georgia and North Dakota. It seems criminal that Native Americans are denied the right to vote because of a street address--and when did that happen?
Anyhow am nervously waiting results.

Walked to my polling place this morning and voted before 7AM. Bunch of people in front of me, but it moved quickly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we blue people can make a difference in this election.

You didn't mention it, but I bet that concert had an interesting aroma, right???? LOL I voted early, but I wish we had the mail in ballots! The midterm elections are one time it really is ONE Person-ONE Vote! And, EACH vote counts!!!! I've got my fingers crossed.......

Cindie, Now what are the chances of THAT happening! I'm betting we both saw the same tour since Billion Dollar Babies was a year or two later.

Martha, Jack may be getting grey but he is still pretty happy, healthy and active! Loving pets given in your name of course. I'm betting you love your new community. Mandy is feeling quite fit and sassy!

Michelle, Blue has always been the way. Now more than ever. I still wonder if zombies have taken over the GOP.

Barbara, Yeah! Wear your sticker proudly. You think TX is going to go for Beto? He seems like future presidential material to me.

Tobie, I think if we get the house we'll be okay...I think.

Peg, Me too, we're getting a dinner to go and plopping down with CNN and MSNBC tonight.

LA, LOL, oh yes, some seriously aromatic smoke, and an interesting brew of Ripple being passed around too. Concerts in the 70's were quite interesting all around.
