The Collar of Shame

Oh it is so sad, my tale of woe. ;) Yesterday was the big day for Robin. On Weds he had injured a toe on his front foot digging. We figured it was a thin slice in that little space between the bottom of the toenail and the pad. Well, it seems he peeled enough of the nail off below it's bed that he actually exposed the bone underneath. The nail had to be cut back, lots of antibiotics and of course, a bandage. Oh joy! Try keeping that on a 5 month old Jack pup.

He had a baby tooth pulled, he was microchipped and of course, he was neutered. He was quite a doped up sore little mess of a dog when I rescued him from the vet yesterday afternoon. As it seems all dogs do, this morning he has made a remarkable recovery. Bouncing, jaunty, ready to take on that vet wrap and his appetite is back!

Isn't it wonderful how quickly they bounce back!!!! For all the procedures he went through, he's back to his charming self!

They are a tough breed, aren't they? Robin looks like he is on the mend.

and a stylish collar to boot!!! We haven't had need for a dog to wear one since they were those hard plastic things that one of our dogs decided she couldn't move a muscle wearing.

and after all that one can see that he still adores you!

Lol! We always called it the "Cone of Shame"! They usually look so stricken that they can hardly function. Robin looks pretty good though.

Hope he's back to his old (or should I say young) self soon...

LOTL, Yes the collar is useful and he is feeling much better. Tina, if it had been the hard e-collar I probably would have used cone too. I pitied him so begged for the soft collar. Wish I had taken both. Your part about them being stricken is so true and made me laugh out loud.
Susan and Maddie, he is almost his old/young self. Just a few more days of bandaged paw and we're home almost free.
Bspinner, Mary and LA, they are a very hardy breed, but I've found most young dogs bounce back from surgery darn fast. My older guys take an additional day but all dogs seem to come back up to speed PDQ.
Evelyn, he does rather adore me doesn't he! The keeper of the food and pain meds!
Cindie, you know we always try to be stylish here. Maybe I can do more of these in fashion colors and prints.....He looks like a big flower of some sort. Anne Geddings material maybe???;)

Oh, dear, he had quite a time of it, didn't he? It's amazing how quickly they bounce back. If only that could be true of us as well??

Have a great week Theresa!

I agree with Judy....if only we could all bounce back so quickly!
